Children at Wheeler Primary School are ‘Change Makers’ and are regularly out in the wider community carrying out projects or supporting its local members.
Helping Hands of HCAT
Pupils from all year groups participated in different ways all with the aim of helping the community. Some made posters for Doctors and Dentists Surgeries or invited volunteers and members of the community to attend a picnic while others supported the elder members of the community.
Cecil Gardens
Wheeler Primary believe strongly in supporting the elderly members of our community as we know that they may be vulnerable or feeling isolated. It is for these reasons that we visit the residents of a local residential home to share lots of fun and laughter. We have shared many experiences with our friends at Cecil Gardens including; singing and dancing, gardening, afternoon tea and story telling to name a few.
There are
opportunities for pupils to attend different clubs and raise funds for charities
Pupils in key stage 2 talk confidently about a wide range of authors and texts they have read.
Throughout my time at Wheeler, I have been given so many opportunities to experience and learn new things
Parents say that the school is ‘fantastic’ and that staff ‘greet the children come hail, rain or shine’ every morning as they arrive.
Leaders give pupils the opportunity to complete well-planned and exciting
activities, such as performing in front of an audience, in order to create a ‘bag’ full of life experiences as they progress through the school. .
