Blue Room
The Blue Room is based in the Little Treasures area at the Rainbow Centre and incorporates 2 separate rooms. We provide provision for 2-3 year olds in this area, including those children accessing the 2 Year Funding.
We have a variety of areas in the Blue Room including Sand and Water play, Construction Area, Mathematical Area and Mark Making Areas. The children are encouraged to explore the provision through free choice.
In our quieter room there is a Home Corner, and Reading Den. The children have regular free choice access to the outside provision, with the door being open for the children to choose to play inside or out. ‘Stories for Talking’ is accessed within the Blue Room, this is done twice daily, this helps to promote and develop all areas of communication and language development.
Weekly homework sheets are sent home which correspond to the termly book for ‘Stories for Talking’. We display these sheets within the room when they are brought back.
We encourage and support independence in the Blue Room whilst providing comfort and reassurance when needed, such as dressing themselves in the fancy dress and putting their own belongings and pictures in their own box. Each child in Blue Room is allocated a ‘My Box’ to ensure any comforters are kept safe but the children know where to find them if needed.
We also support the child and their family with toilet training, when the child is ready to do so. Each child is allocated a key worker and a significant other to ensure each child is supported and so that there is always someone present for you and your child.
All children are given a ‘Tapestry’ journal, which is set up and managed by us, however we encourage parents to send photographs showing what they get up to at home, as well as being used as a platform for instant communication between parents and staff.
